Progress Report
I made a lot of progress tonight. I got a lot of cutting done. Enough that I can really see how the whole thing will come together. I’m so happy that it’s moving along so fast. =)

Skirt Pieces cut out.
Single Panel, with the appliqués laid out.
(hehe it looks like some sort of bizarre Necktie)
3 of the panels, with pleats and lining fabric.
I have a bit more ironing and cutting to do with the appliqué’s. I also need to cut out the stiffener and the lining. I think I’ll be embroidering by the weekend. Yay!

Pattern
I’ve just about got the skirt pattern in order. I’m feeling comfortable with it, so hopefully it works like I think it will! My next step is to get everything cut out. I’m still waiting on the silk. (hopefully it gets here, the mail man is not reliable…)
I’m happy that I’m keeping the skirt design simple, it wont take very long to embroider. I could probably cut the appliqués in one day, and embroider in another. My goal is to have this done for Saint Patrick’s day, so we’ll see…

Finally getting started
Well, after months of talking about it, I’m finally getting a move on this dress makeover. I ordered the blue silk on Saturday, so that should be here by the end of the week. Dance was canceled tonight so I went to Joann’s and picked up some thread, heat and bond…and get this: the same lining fabric I used the first time around! I was so happy to find it. =D

Solo Dress Makover Continued.

I’m going to convert my dress from a 3 panel to an 8 panel so make it a little more modern and easier to dance in.
My Plan so far:
Put this fabric in the small panels:
Create an underskirt for the dress.
WHAT FABRIC?
I’m not going to use the embroidered fabric for the underskirt because I don’t have enough extra, and it’s just far too expensive to order that much for an underskirt.
Now I need to pick a fabric that will compliment the dress, look like it belongs, and also be appropriate for a 20 year old…

American Girl Doll dresses
Slowly from October through December, I worked on these Wick School inspired AG sized school costumes. I took orders and had to have them done in time for Christmas. It was tough between school and work, but I managed to get all 9 finished with 2 weeks to spare. =)
I must say, I don’t know how dressmakers do full sized school costumes! I get bored easily doing the same design over and over and over again.
The dresses are Embroidered, Fully lined, and include a cape and crown.
I would have loved to have gotten all of the detail and embroidery in the dresses, but without an embroidery machine it’s virtually impossible.

Solo dress makover
I’m going to perform major surgery on this dress and make it the dress I wish it had been in the first place!

Call me crazy…
But I’m going to make a new skirt for my dress. Multi panels with a tulle underskirt. Yay =)
